Lindsey Bean, Founder & Director

Hi, I'm Lindsey - the founder of Altara Retreats.

I've always believed that travel has the ability to change us. It gives us space to slow down, experience something new, connect with incredible people, and return home with a renewed sense of perspective. Some of my most meaningful memories, friendships, and personal growth have come through travel, and I love creating opportunities for others to experience that same sense of connection and discovery.

With experience coordinating more than 20 retreats in destinations around the world, I've seen firsthand what goes into creating a truly unforgettable experience. Behind every beautiful retreat are hundreds of details - accommodations, transportation, excursions, schedules, guest communication, and countless decisions that happen behind the scenes.

I created Altara Retreats because I believe retreat leaders should be able to focus on what they do best: guiding, teaching, creating, and connecting with their communities. They shouldn't have to carry the weight of every logistical detail to bring their vision to life.

Whether you're joining one of our curated retreats or partnering with Altara to host your own, my goal is simple: to create thoughtful, seamless experiences where every detail is handled with care so you can be fully present for the moments that matter most.

  • If you are an experienced leader with a community who you would like to retreat with, please complete the request form to receive additional information. Hosts must meet certain requirements so not all requests will be accepted but we would love to hear about your vision and possibly bring it to life!

  • You don’t need a membership or VIP status to travel with Altara Retreats - just click on the “Attend a Retreat” Page and select your preference. You can reserve a spot for only $250 deposit!

  • We combine a thoughtful, human-centered approach with clear communication and reliable results. It’s not just what we do—it’s how we do it that sets us apart. We focus on connection through movement, cultural integration, community engagement and exciting adventures!

  • Yes! For only $250, you can reserve a spot for any of our retreats and then pay the balance over 6 months with our automatic payment plans.

  • Cancellation & Transfer Policy

    • A $250 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your space.

    • Cancellations made 121 or more days before the retreat start date will receive a full refund, less the $250 deposit.

    • Cancellations made 91–120 days before the retreat start date will receive a 75% refund of all payments made, less the $250 deposit.

    • Cancellations made 61–90 days before the retreat start date will receive a 50% refund of all payments made, less the $250 deposit.

    • No refunds will be issued for cancellations made 60 days or fewer before the retreat start date.

    • Reservations may be transferred to another participant with written approval from Altara Retreats up to 30 days before the retreat start date. Reservations become non-transferable within 30 days of the retreat.

  • Travel Insurance Requirement

    For the protection of both our participants and our retreat partners, comprehensive travel insurance is required for all Altara Retreats. Participants are responsible for purchasing a policy that provides adequate coverage for their individual needs and travel plans.

    At a minimum, your policy should include coverage for:

    • Trip cancellation and interruption

    • Medical expenses while traveling

    • Emergency medical evacuation and repatriation

    • Lost, delayed, or stolen baggage

    • Travel delays

    Travel insurance should be purchased as soon as your retreat reservation is confirmed to maximize available coverage and cancellation benefits, including a “cancel at any time” clause that is highly beneficial.

    Altara Retreats is not responsible for financial losses resulting from illness, injury, family emergencies, airline disruptions, weather events, natural disasters, government travel restrictions, or any other unforeseen circumstances that prevent participation in the retreat. No exceptions will be made to the cancellation policy for circumstances that may be covered by travel insurance.

    Participants may be asked to provide proof of travel insurance prior to the retreat. Failure to obtain the required coverage may result in cancellation of the reservation without refund.
